Manager, Tax & Risk Management

Large, well-respected, multi-location company is seeking an experienced tax professional for its Columbia headquarters.  Position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing processes for tax compliance and risk management.  Specific duties include the following:

  • Prepare quarterly federal and state income tax provisions
  • Analyze tax impacts of company transactions
  • Support tax planning initiatives and special projects and monitor tax law changes
  • Manage accounting process for all federal and state income tax, ensure proper posting in general ledger, and provide quarterly financial reporting
  • Manage all use and property tax functions
  • Liaise with Controller and accounting staff regarding tax accounting issues
  • Assist with planning and modeling future projections of taxable income and payments
  • Prepare annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for tax expense and payments
  • Identify risk management programs and ensure that risk levels are minimized
  • Partner with Operations to identify risks, monitor changes in products and services that may result in potential loss exposure, and make recommendations regarding mitigation strategies and compliance
  • Coordinate the implementation of insurance programs, including foreign exposure insurance
  • Work with legal counsel to monitor  procedures impacting indemnity and insurance clauses in corporate contracts
  • Report claims to insurers, monitor subsequent claims activity, and coordinate with Legal regarding product liability claims

Position reports to Controller

Candidate should be a CPA with 5-10 years of in-depth tax compliance experience in a public accounting or corporate setting.  Must have a Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.  Masters of Taxation or JD/LLM in Taxation ideal.   Should have working knowledge of international taxation, structuring od transactions, and operations.  Prior risk management experience preferred but not required.   Must be proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and able to utilize tax research software.
